If I could bathe in La Mer, I would
A few years back, a friend recommended I try Crème De La Mer as my daily moisturizer. I began using it and saw immediate results after using it for a few weeks. My skin instantly felt smoother and less dry. I received a lot of comments on the glow of my skin. A natural glow? Not quite. The glow costs a whopping $130 for a 1 oz. a jar (and it’s not a big jar!), but it’s worth it if you’re preparing your skin for a big event, like a wedding for example.
Oh, and just a tip: Don’t even try to get samples. The salespeople guard those things with their lives. If you’re lucky, they’ll give you a tiny drop of the crème and send you away, starving for more. There’s no sense in starving yourself though, especially if you appreciate an occasional splurge. Try it yourself, and I’m sure you’ll thank me later — maybe even with a bathtub full of it.
Get ready for spring with Lime nails
I love pastel nails! I paid a visit to Modern Nail Salon in Arlington, VA, and told my manicurist I wanted something light with a spring-ey feel. I finally decided on lavender but was not completely sure. I guess she felt the indecisiveness in my voice, so with a grin, she said she’d bring me a very pretty color from the back.
She emerged from her “secret room” with OPI’s Hey! Get in Lime.
Piola Pizza
Something you’ll learn at Piola is that it’s possible to make pizza in a gajillion different ways — including topped with eggs.
I went there recently and ordered the Moderna (tomato sauce, mozzarella, arugula, fresh tomatoes and shaved parmesan cheese). Very fresh and cheesy. I’m a fan of thin salty crusts, so there were no complaints there but it was a little heavy on the tomatoes.
Spa Review: La Source Hair Salon & Day Spa, Arlington, VA
I went to visit my favorite masseuse, Fateeha, this week at La Source Hair Salon & Day Spa in Arlington, VA. Though, instead of the usual massage, I decided to go for a facial.
For starters, she used the cutest orange-shaped eye pads on me!
Get My Face: Day-Time “Naeesha” Look
I LOVE visiting the MAC counter, even when I don’t need to refill my makeup drawer. I stopped by one at Macy’s in Tyson’s Corner in Mclean, VA, last summer and met a beautiful makeup artist by the name of Naeesha. Usually, I ask about the current top selling products, but this time I asked where I could find the lipstick she was wearing. And the blush on her cheeks. And her eye shadow…
And then I stopped beating around the bush.
Lip Gloss Confessional: The “Other” Man
If there’s one thing all of us need, it’s having “the one” right by our side…I’m talking lip gloss. For me, that means one that’s easy to apply, easy to remove, not sticky, and finishes my look. Plain and simple.
And once we have that gloss, managing it is practically a project in and of itself: Where did I put it? I hope I didn’t leave it in the car in the heat. Did I remember to put it in my coat pocket before the party? Is it almost finished? Should I buy another one? Is it time to reapply? Should I dump this color for a new one? Ah…the neurosis of it all.
