Inspiration of the Day: Paris

Paris is one of my favoriteee cities. It should be my “Inspiration Every Day.” I finally started printing and hanging some of my travel photos in my apartment living room. I turned them all black and white because I thought they would just look more striking against the bright wall. It’s amazing which photos pop out at you more in black and white, and which ones dull down a lot more than you’d expect. I felt like I didn’t take the greatest pictures when I went to Paris, but I ended up appreciating this one (of the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower) a lot more when I turned it black and white:

Travel feasts: Seafood in Paris

More travel-blackberry pictures!

I’m not a big seafood person, which is probably why you don’t see much of it on here! But never to deprive you, my friend sent me some pictures he took while in Paris last year. I’ll have to get the name of the restaurant, since he couldn’t remember at the time, but he said the cost for two people to eat there was $400! I told you that place is beautiful but it ain’t cheap.

The first one is sea urchin that he said was “surprisingly decent.”

Our Hummus-Kebaab snacks in Paris

We got a quaint little apartment that we rented when we went to Paris, and we lucked out with a clean, comfortable space.

The few shots I took of the actual place!

We decided to save some money after our $26 latte ordeal and take advantage of our kitchen by buying some groceries. We bought the basics: milk, cheese, a loaf of sesame bread, and sugar. I had brought cardamom tea packets, which we’d use the milk and sugar and fix ourselves some chai every night. I also (don’t laugh) had brought some kebaabs from home, which my aunt swore up and down I would thank her later for suggesting. She was totally right.

More food from Paris…

I just realized how random our meals were in our trip to Paris. We were mostly on the go, walking around and coming back to our apartment to fix some quick meals. I also realized afterwards that 90% of our meals happened where we usually ended up — in the Latin Quarters..which ain’t so bad at all.

We went to Le Depart Saint Michel one night which is not very far from where we had our lattes the first day. I was happy for once I didn’t go my usual chicken route. Instead, we tried their beef and duck. It was my first time having duck! Meat is a little tougher than chicken but still really good.

A graveyard, a mosque, and a panini.

Good news is, we found the right cemetery on our last rainy day in Paris. That is the Père Lachaise Cemetery, where the only way I can describe it is that every grave is a piece of art in itself.

Paris, je t’aime

Again, sorry for so much time between posts! I have barely had any time to update, but I have tons to write about! Will give a couple highlights here because I have to run again! Yesterday, we climbed up a hill to see the Sacré-Cœur Basilica Roman Catholic Church in the Montmartre (18th district), which is the highest point in the city. It not only had the most stunning panoramic view of the city, but is also so beautiful inside.
