Dosas at Hampton Chutney Co. in Soho
This is probably the closest I’ll ever get to the anything-Hampton:
I’ve always intended to check out Hampton Chutney Co., but I somehow find myself planting myself inside Ruby’s nearby (any excuse I can make for their Blueys sandwich and pumpkin salad I guess). It’s kind of a shame I do that, because the whole area is lined with so many different restaurants. On a recent shopping trip to Soho though, I finally decided to stop in and try some of their dosas (think a rice-and-lentil flour crepe stuffed with savory potatoes and other veggies).
Dosas. Yummy Dosas.
OH man.
I think I need to dedicate a whole month to the food I’m eating in India. It’s so delicious!
For example, my breakfast this morning: dosas. A crepe-like bread you eat with chutneys and in this case, potatoes.

Delicious dosas at Saravana Bhavan
Well, this is something I don’t do often: I ate at an Indian restaurant!
It was at my friend, Farah’s, suggestion, and my rule-of-thumb when I eat out with her is just to follow since she never fails with leading me into delicious happenings.
Saravana Bhavan, a chain Indian/Vegetarian dosa house, was no exception. Dosas are crispy Indian crepes normally filled with a potato masala or a mix of spices. They are also served with a side of different kinds of chutneys, as was the case here.
